Privacy
What this site stores, what it sends elsewhere, and how long it keeps it.
What is stored
- Every search
- The domain or address looked up, the time, whether it was registered, its registrar and expiry date, which server answered and how long it took. Searches run while signed out are recorded without any user attached to them.
- Page visits
- Which page was requested, when, how long it took, the response code, your browser's user-agent string and the site that linked you here. Your IP address is not stored: it is converted to a salted, one-way fingerprint that lets visits be counted and abuse be spotted, but cannot be turned back into an address. Visit records are deleted automatically after 90 days.
- Your account
- Your email address and a hash of your password. Nothing else is asked for.
- Your watchlist
- The domains you chose to watch, plus the expiry snapshot taken at each refresh.
What leaves this site
Running a report means asking other systems about the domain. In each case the domain name is sent; your identity is not.
- The domain's registry and registrar, over RDAP or port-43 WHOIS.
- Public DNS resolvers, for the record and email-policy lookups.
- The domain's own web server, for the certificate and redirect checks.
- Team Cymru's public DNS service, for the routing origin of an IP address.
Those operators keep their own logs, which will include this server's address. No analytics, advertising or tracking scripts run on this site, and every stylesheet, script and font is served from this domain. Visit figures are worked out on this server from its own request log — nothing about you is sent to a third-party analytics service, and no cookie is used to track you between visits.
Your control
You can download your full search history as CSV from My searches at any time, and remove anything from your watchlist in one click. To have your account and its history deleted, ask the site administrator.
